Overview

British Gas Business (BGB) is looking to appoint a Power Hedging and Forecasting Manager to be based in their Windsor office. The role is within the SME Commercial team of British Gas Business and the purpose is to support the energy procurement and risk management of the power portfolio. This requires the forecasting of electricity demand of the British Gas Business electricity customer portfolio, and ensuring that this demand is hedged in accordance with the agreed hedging strategies.

·  Location - Windsor
·  Salary - £30,000 to £40,000 depending on experience

The Role

You will be required to accurately forecast the energy requirements of the BGB portfolio and proactively manage the resulting commodity position. You will also be tasked to Complete accurate long term power energy forecasts and commentary to agreed timescales.

Other responsibilities include:

·  Monitor and evaluate forecasting performance for power
·  Report the hedge position for power
·  Identify and manage risks associated with the forecast and hedge
·  Monitor, develop and evaluate key demand forecasting assumptions
·  Manage forecasting data, liaising with stakeholders to improve quality of data
·  Input into financial op plans
·  Support robust processes and systems to support the hedging of BGB’s energy requirements

The Person

Applicants must be highly numerate with analytical abilities and a strong academic background. You should be educated to degree level and be familiar with analysing large and complex data sets across multiple databases/sources. Additional skills and experience include:

·  Experience of SQL or SAS desirable
·  Advanced Excel
·  Ability to learn and extract value from unfamiliar IS systems
·  Time management and stakeholder management skills
·  Excellent communication skills
