Role synopsis
These positions are available to apprentice technicians who have/or will complete their Modern Apprenticeship Training in 2Q 2016* The role of trainee technician is pivotal in providing operations excellence in the areas of both business and operational performance. The operations team are responsible for operating and monitoring the wellheads, oil, gas, produced water and associated systems. A key responsibility is to ensure that all systems are operated safely, efficiently and with maximum availability and that emergency systems are maintained in a state of readiness and availability. Responsible for the preparation and isolation of plant and equipment for maintenance and reinstatement, including pressure and leak testing. Carry out emergency response duties as per Site Emergency Plan. All team members are recruited not just on their technical competency but also on the essential behaviours.

Key accountabilities
Demonstrate personal leadership and excellent safety behaviours at all times and ensure that safety expectations are communicated and maintained. Ensure operations and maintenance input is in line with BP safety standards and other local procedures/standards). Troubleshoot and identify equipment problems and obtain any necessary support. Participate in pre-job, safety compliance and tool box safety meetings. Maintain responsibility for safety and environmental compliance. Respond to emergency needs in the facility. Ensure safe working conditions exist for all plant employees and contractors. Ensure compliance with all Safety and Environmental practices and procedures. Maximize production by meeting product specifications, striving for maximum runtime of the facilities, being helpful and a positive influence, and interacting effectively with other work disciplines, teams, and team members.
Electrical Technician - Maintain and improve plant safety and efficiency. Carry out preventative maintenance and testing of electrical equipment. Fault finding and repair of electrical equipment. Responsible for all HV and LV electrical related work programmes/activities. Responsible for the operation/control of the platform power system. Implementation and support to the modification process.
Mechanical Technician - Identify effective scheduling requirements for planned maintenance routines and non-urgent breakdown repairs, Identify and investigate system improvement modifications. Accountable for planned maintenance routines and breakdown repairs within scope. Safe and efficient first line response for critical repair work. Expert in mechanical issues regarding day to day operations.
Instrument Technician - Identify effective scheduling requirements for planned maintenance routines and non-urgent breakdown repairs. Identify and investigate system improvement modifications. Accountable for planned maintenance routines and breakdown repairs within scope. Safe and efficient first line response for critical repair work. Expert in instrumentation issues regarding day to day operations.
Production Technician - Including but not limited to: HSE Performance - Demonstrate good safety behaviours at all times and stop all unsafe acts witnessed. As part of the operations team, deliver on a personal commitment to safety. - Implement all relevant policies and procedures as defined within the Operating Management System. Deliver full compliance with the Operating Management System, Golden Rules and Site Safety Standards. Prepare plant for maintenance, including oil and gas freeing for containment breaks, and take all necessary steps to safely return the equipment to service.
Essential Education
· HNC or equivalent S/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
Desirable criteria and qualifications
Level 3 City and Guilds Certificate in Petroleum Processing Technology
