Role synopsis

This is a generalist role with a strong focus on supporting two Communications & External Affairs (C&EA) executives and coordinating activities within the groups that make up C&EA while also handling special projects related to communications and regulatory affairs.

Key accountabilities

·  Work in a highly focused and active communications and external affairs operation with frequent interaction with business executives, government officials and opinion leaders. Acts as an essential communications connection for the Regulatory Affairs and Communications teams within C&EA.
·  Manage schedule of external and internal events and meetings for Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Head of U.S. Communications.
·  Provide administrative support, including managing expenses, travel arrangements and email and calendar management for Regulatory Affairs and Communications executives as well as providing office support such as the ordering of supplies, ordering meals when required, as well as the setup of conference rooms.
·  Plan and support stakeholder events hosted by Regulatory and Communications executives.
·  Write and format documents including letters, e-mails, staff communications and spread sheets. Records and document preparation and management.
·  Stay abreast of political developments and issues related to energy in Washington and have a working knowledge of the key players involved.
·  Interface with stakeholders within various segments of the business and within the Washington regulatory, communications and political realm.
·  Recognize when events or issues must be managed across the teams that make up C&EA and make the appropriate staff aware of those situations.
·  Juggle multiple issues, prioritize tasks and follow through on responsibilities to completion, with little oversight or guidance.
·  Develop and maintain broad understanding of the business activities, objectives and strategies.
·  Manage own time to achieve specified targets and deadlines and integrate this with the plans of others to achieve agreed objectives, targets and deadlines.
·  Develop and implement plans for current projects while also being able to deal with last minute tasks and issues.
·  Anticipate possible roadblocks and take the initiative to avert them.
·  Proposes improvements and actions that will achieve longer-term objectives. Provides general input to diagnose, investigate and provide solutions to problems that occasionally can be ambiguous and difficult to resolve.
Essential Education

·  Bachelor's degree in communications or related field.
Desirable criteria and qualifications

·  High level of energy and enthusiasm toward new and evolving challenges.
·  Very strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
·  Demonstrated success in a role requiring internal networking and engagement with broad, diverse stakeholder groups.
·  Experience and knowledge in a variety of communication channels – online, print, face-to-face, etc., and experience in the selection of optional channels for various communications.
·  Demonstrated success as a strong team player who is detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
·  Ability to network and build relationships across the organization.
·  Political campaign, Capitol Hill or government experience a plus.
