Job description

Role synopsis

We are seeking an experienced RAD developer to build applications and tools using a broad array of technologies for our Middle Office Risk and Finance teams. This is a great opportunity to work closely with the business users across different functions to understand and clarify requirements, undertake analysis of systems, business processes, data and interfaces, and implement technical solutions in a fast paced trading environment. The RAD developer with develop and support applications to meet the most immediate priorities agreed amongst stakeholders for the various functional business areas, while also working jointly with traditional IT&S delivery teams to transition tactical solutions toward the longer term  strategic direction.

Key accountabilities

• Work closely with managers and analysts to understand and clarify requirements.
• Follow an agile process to implement solutions, utilizing appropriate technologies.
• Support and enhance existing RAD applications.
• Work collaboratively with Global RAD team to follow standards and best practices for RAD development.
• Work with other developers, designers, architects, business analysts and testers as part of the wider IST IT&S team; particularly in support of strategic releases and projects.

Essential Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following areas: Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, Management Information System

Essential experience and job requirements

Interpersonal
• Exceptional communication skills and a comfort level in working effectively with people at various organizational levels within BP. 
• Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize among multiple projects and switch tasks quickly.
• Self-directed high performer with a relentless commitment to detail.
• Comfort level in working autonomously, sometimes under high-pressured and fast-paced circumstances, and often times with limited information and ambiguity.

Business
• Experience in a technical role sitting on the desk alongside business users on a daily basis.
• Good understanding of Market Risk and/or Credit Risk.

Technical
• Experience with multiple development environments and programming languages, including recent experience with object-oriented development in C# and/or Java. 
• Extensive experience in Microsoft Office technologies including Excel, Access, and VBA.
• Strong database design and development skills (SQL Server), including writing complex queries to consume and update data, and also designing new relational data schemas.
• Experience integrating code across multiple development technologies.

• Good understanding of Commodities (Oil, Gas, Power, LNG) finance.
• Knowledge of end-to-end (Front to Back Office) business processes in financial trading & risk environment.
• Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile/Scrum methodology, and source control and build tools (TFS, Clearcase, Subversion, Cruise Control, NUnit).
• Experience with web site development, particularly ASP.NET with MVC framework.
