Role synopsis
Monitor, analyze and optimize key unit/process performance parameters and perform plant trouble shooting activities.
Propose innovative ideas and conduct plant tests;
Participate/assist in complex and complicated process engineering tasks and independently lead small capital projects.

Key accountabilities
Perform Plant Optimization through Engineering Applications.
Develop process optimisation programs to maximise plant profits and efficiency.
Participate in/ assist Lead process optimisation engineer to perform complex and complicated process engineering tasks
Perform economic evaluation of small capital projects.
Design simple systems using manual and computer based calculations to develop equipment datasheets.
Provide process assurance to the design and implementation of process improvement and product quality assurance projects.
Optimize plant through process/operation trouble-shooting & plant optimization test
Monitor/analyse unit performance and identify opportunities for improvements.
Provide assistance to Operation in trouble-shooting plant problems.
Propose and conduct plant tests to verify or demonstrate process/control/engineering improvement ideas.
Develop standard procedures to address/improve process or operational problems.
Drive for HSE performance and continuous improvement
Actively participate in process safety activities and HAZOP reviews.
Following HSSE & O&S guidelines to review and develop safety related process/operation to meet group standards.
To report any unsafe condition, potential environmental problem, any opportunities and propose recommendation to improve in his/her work area based on his/her knowledge, experience and lesson learnt.
Communication
Generate internal and external reports to share best practices.
Keep current of site manufacturing issues and understand plant and business visions.
Coordinate with other groups and provide process engineering expertise and support to ensure implementation of process improvement changes.
Maintain contact with process engineering groups in BP Technology and BP PTA manufacturing sites.

Understanding of certain aspects of chemical processing and related technologies
A broad knowledge of plant operations and plant process engineering requirements.
Able to understand, run and make minor changes to existing steady-state models. Able to set up steady-state models of single unit operations from scratch, and understand the implications of choice of physical properties, thermodynamics and transport property models.
Basic knowledge of other engineering disciplines, relevant codes and equipment options. Full understanding of specifications required from Chemical Engineers for other disciplines. Ability to lead process engineering on minor projects.
Essential Education
4 years of College graduated, majored in Chemical engineering, or equivalent discipline.

Able to lead design studies and identify the optimum solution for any dynamic fluid system. Has a fundamental appreciation of fluid flow issues and understands the effect of mixing in systems.
In-depth knowledge of asset specific operating envelopes. Responsible for defining and maintaining operating envelopes. Able to train others in operating envelopes philosophy and asset specific application. Assures appropriate action has been taken on excursion beyond the envelope.
Develops basic spreadsheet models defining NPV, IRR and PI for different
Projects. Ability to use software for scoping capital cost estimates (for example CAPEST). Can develop plant operating cost estimates
