Role synopsis
The Central, East and West Azeri platforms, part of BP's portfolio in Azerbaijan produce a combined total of approximately 340mbd oil, inject a total of 190mbd water and handle around 1bcf of gas per day. The platforms are in mid-life operation. Central Azeri has been operating for 12 years, West Azeri for 11 years and East Azeri for 10 years.
The Azeri Area Engineering Support Team (AEST) is the first point of contact for technical and operations support queries for the offshore teams with the following accountabilities:
· Provide daily engineering support to Area operations teams.
· Facilitate delivery of process safety, integrity and environmental performance of the Area, including self-verification and barrier health.
· Deliver defect elimination and continuous improvement to support the production forecast, to grow IPC and to ensure that repeat failures do not occur.
· Integrate functional work within the 12-week plan and deliver AEST led minor modifications and repairs.
The Azeri AEST has a position foran experienced Process engineer, reporting to the Area Engineering Support Team Leader (AESTL). This role is office based, located in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Given the complexity and scale of the Azeri Area, this position is intended to serve as a lead engineer within the Azeri Area Engineering Support Team.In addition to supporting the delivery of process engineering activities and accountabilities, the position will also support the AESTL with coordination of day-to-day engineering support for an Azeri platform(s), integration of functional work activities and accountable for the execution readiness of the 12 week plan.

Key accountabilities
•Operating discipline: as a lead engineer in the Azeri AEST, manage emerging events, including upsets, near misses, incidents and equipment beakdown situations.
•Risk management: conduct/participate in Area related risk assessments (e.g. What ifs, HAZOP, HAZID, ORAs).Provide process engineering input into risk assessment for planned work and emerging situations.Provide inputs to offshore and onshore management on whether is safe to operate.
•Planning and efficient execution of work: accountable for integration of functional work and for execution readiness of the 6/12 week plan for an Azeri platform. Technical input into and prioritisation of functional activity sets to align with the Area operating plan.
•Provide daily engineering support to Area operations team: serve as a point of contact for engineering queries from the Azeri installation(s).
•Production optimisation and plant reliability: support systematic management and tracking of the Azeri Area vulnerabilities.Input into Area defect elimination and performance reviews.Identify production vulnerabilities and optimisation opportunities.Initiate 5-why+ and RCFAs.
•Management of Change (MOC): act as coordinator / reviewer for process engineering related technical management of change.Ensure appropriate BP practices and process engineering ETPs/industry codes are adhered to when modifications are being made in the Area.
•Performance management: support the AESTL in analysing Area performance data and creating interventions as required.
•Continuous improvement (CI): active CI program participant, including defect elimination projects development and submission, with a focus on process safety and reliability.
•Incident investigation: participate in and lead incident investigations as required.
•Self-verification: conduct self-verification exercises on key operations and engineering processes (e.g. operational risk assessments, managed valves, SORAs, safe operating limits, engineering barriers, MoC compliance, gate readiness).Complete follow-up on process engineering related actions and observations.
•Projects: deliver minor modifications and repairs (sub Cat C).Serve as SPA (single point of accountability) for small projects as agreed with the AESTL.
•Coaches challenge/less experienced Process Engineers.

Essential experience and job requirements
•Extensive experience in the oil and gas industry in engineering, supporting on-going operations.
•Familiar with industry practices for process safety management, e.g. HAZOP, LOPA, PHA.
•Understanding of risk management, including the use of risk barrier diagrams (bow-tie).
•Working knowledge of process engineering (modelling and calculations) and skilled to make engineering judgment when limited information is available.
•Fluent in English
•Azerbaijani citizenship is required

Essential Education
Degree qualified or equivalent in Chemical, Process or Mechanical Engineering
Desirable criteria and qualifications
·Professional engineering registration (e.g. CEng, IEng, PE) is desirable.
·Prior experience in front line operations support roles.
·Knowledge of upstream control of work and activity planning.
·Experience of working in multi-cultural environments
