Role synopsis
The Pilot / Mooring Master is responsible for safe and compliant export tanker activities including the mooring/unmooring of the tanker and loading/sailing operations.
Additional duties and expectations include supporting the day to day operation and management of the export terminal (FPSO) and identification / execution of “value add” activities.
The Pilot / Mooring Master is responsible for the operation of mooring and export equipment and ensuring that this equipment is maintained properly, coaching and mentoring of Angolan Trainee Pilot/Mooring Masters and supporting the Self Verification plan for the Marine Terminals Team.

Key accountabilities
· Follow internal BP safety, behavioural and leadership programmes & processes
· Ensure that Export Tanker operations are conducted in compliance with the Regulations Governing Petroleum Operations (Decree 01/09)
· Responsible for final inspection and acceptance of Export Tankers upon arrival at the Marine Terminal to ensure compliance with BP rules /regulations, and recognised industry standards as ISGOTT and OCIMF
· Responsible for completion of safe berthing / un-berthing and safe hose connection and disconnection operations
· Develop update, review and implement of procedures for the safe loading and export of crude oil from the Marine Terminal
· Ensure that all pre-load documentation is completed and agreed by all parties, principally the Export Tanker Master, Surveyors, and Marine Terminal personnel completing the cargo documentation
· Ensure all pre-load and operational safety checks are completed diligently and correctly by both the Export Tanker and the Marine Terminal with complete and accurate records being maintained
· Ensure hourly monitoring and comparisons are made between the Export Tanker and Marine Terminal and advise Marine Terminal of any discrepancies
· Ensure ongoing monitoring of offtake tanker position and operational performance throughout the loading operation. Intervene as required
· Witness cargo gauging and measurement procedures on board the Export Tanker
· Manage cargo documentation such as Bill of Loading and the issue and receipt of Notes of Protest
· Responsible for activities associated with the operation of mooring and export equipment, pre-export and other routine operational checks and inspections of the hose string, mooring equipment, CALM Buoy and Tandem Mooring equipment.
· Responsible for ensuring that the correct department undertakes maintenance, both routine and non-routine, as required.
· Ensure that any issues and/or deficiencies with export equipment such as hoses, mooring equipment, berthing aids and the like are reported and addressed in a timely manner and do not impact export tanker operations
· Accountable for an oversight and tracking of the spare parts for the mooring and export equipment - to ensure sufficient spares available at all times
· Support the Marine Terminal on any marine activities as require
· Support the region in Emergency Response Marine scenarios as necessary
· Ensure appropriate protocol and handover procedures are in place and followed to include recording the handover of responsibilities and duties during export operations
· Identify / execute of “value add” activities.
· Coach, train & mentor of Angolan National Trainee Mooring Masters & Pilots
· Support the Self verification and terminal assessment plans for the Marine Terminals Team
· Expected to support the closing of gaps identified during marine related self-verifications
· Use knowledge, experience and marine expertise to support the continuous improvement of marine systems / operations and operations in general
· Oversight and management of the activities of 3rd party contractors as required (Block Tugs, ancillary craft, Calm Buoy maintenance, Hawser change outs, hose maintenance and change outs)

Essential experience and job requirements
Have served in a senior capacity on board crude oil tankers for a minimum of 2 years

Desired profile
Essential Education
Hold a valid Class 1 Master Mariner Certificate of Competency compliant with STCW 95 AND Dangerous Cargo Endorsement for liquid petroleum, issued by UK MCA or other equivalent internationally recognised
Desirable criteria and qualifications
Hold a valid OPITO approved and HUET or BOSIET and UKOAA approved offshore medicals Knowledgeable and trained in the ISPS code to PFSO level
