Role synopsis

The Marine team comprises a multi-discipline team managing and supporting the full range of offshore marine exploration and production vessel activities across the UK region, including mobile drilling rig operations, project operations, subsea construction, logistics activity, seismic and survey operations and vessel assurance activity.

The Marine Technical Advisor role is a full-time position based in BPs North Sea Headquarters in Dyce, Aberdeen and will primarily provide day-to-day marine technical and operational support to a busy logistics department as well as acting as the BP focal point and contract representative for BPs fleet of 6 owned supply vessels. The role will also support other logistics and offshore operations as required.

The role will provide marine operational input into the day-to-day planning and execution of all Marine Logistics vessel operations as well as managing and supporting risk reviews, management and investigation of marine related incidents and accidents and ensuring continuous improvement in marine fleet safety performance.

The Marine Technical Advisor shall also be required to support BPs Incident Management and Emergency Response Team and will be expected to be an active member of the emergency response rota.

Key accountabilities

Overall Accountabilities:

·  Delivery of safe, reliable, compliant and cost-efficient logistics services to internal customers.
·  Executing risk reduction initiatives and lessons-learned with marine contractors.
·  Determining optimal vessel fleet composition, and recommending planning and efficiency solutions including delivery of cost reduction initiatives.
·  Responsible for front-line engagement for marine operations in logistics.
·  Advising customers on marine logistics activities, ensuring adherence to company policies and processes and ensuring that technical and operational standards are maintained in all marine related activity.
·  Managing interfaces with key stakeholders and customers.
·  Managing marine contractors and ensuring they perform in compliance with BP contractual expectations.
·  Understudying and providing cover from time to time for key company marine positions or activities

HSE Accountabilities:
·  Demonstrate personal HSE Leadership in supporting internal BP standards and in supporting HSE performance of marine contractors.
·  To support on an as required basis the review and update of company marine operations policy and to continually monitor its effectiveness.
·  Ensure that all BP incidents involving marine activities are fully investigated and any follow up actions completed on time.

Essential Education

High school diploma or equivalent
Desirable criteria and qualifications

Have experience in a similar role within a major oil and gas operator and who have also held a seagoing position as Deck officer on North Sea supply vessels.

·  The successful candidate must have onshore marine logistics operational experience and have been involved in providing 3rd party contractor oversight in the areas of HSE, Operations and Cost management.
·  The successful candidate must also be fully familiar with supply vessel logistics operations.
