Role synopsis
The LNG market has been developing rapidly and now provides a mechanism for gas-on-gas competition between regional markets. BP has been leading this change through its strong LNG portfolio, which extends from the Atlantic Basin to Asia, and comprises both equity and third party LNG. BP has a strong shipping fleet and access to premium markets globally.
The LNG Book within IG (“International Gas”) is responsible for optimising BP's advantaged portfolio of assets. These include equity and third party LNG supply; long term re-gasification contracts in the US and Europe; customers in Asia, the Middle East, South America and other premium markets; and a fleet of BP operated and third party chartered ships.
The trading analytics team within the trading book is responsible for developing tools and analysis to assist the trading team in delivering optimal value from this portfolio.

Key accountabilities
The role reports to the LNG lead analyst and specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Model accurately and timely BP LNG supply and market contracts for use in generating economics, cargo pricing, exposure changes and identification of potential market opportunities. Provide summary commentary with data output, including key assumptions, output, sensitivities and caveats. Improve & streamline the models to include new contracts or trading ideas.
· Become an expert in LNG pricing clauses, structures and optionality
· Manage some upstream pricing
· Actively support the traders in reducing the risk of mis-reporting on the book as contracts get ever more complex. Identify and highlight risks before deal entry. Advise on new checks needed on deal entry and post rewires. Ensure a lightweight reconciliation to Commodity Risks numbers
· Support trading system improvements from a Front Office perspective
· Produce daily rewire suggestions using the output of our ‘trading optimiser', a tool which optimises the wiring of the entire physical portfolio by maximising BP Group post tax PnL
· Be capable of sending rewire suggestion without the optimiser
· Ensure maximum synergies with LNG operations, notably by liaising on Base Case issues, optimiser development, volume optimisation and other operational optionality
· Support the financial traders in hedging and monetising exposures, and support model development for the L-shape window.
· Work closely with the LNG CCO to model Mid Term scenarios. Shape and define best inputs/outputs/structure for Mid Term analysis
· Work closely with the LNG Structuring group to ensure that there is good two-way flow of analytical information which enhances the understanding of the LNG Book, and the Mid Term book specifically
· Drive model simplification and enhancements & creation of new models
· Actively take part in team meetings and brainstorm how the latest market developments impact our work
Essential Education

Desirable criteria and qualifications
Relevant experience gained within one of BP's natural gas business units
Deep LNG or Gas product knowledge
Understanding of trading exposure and risk.

International Gas (IG) was formed as a result of the integration of the GTEL & Commercial Development SPUs. International Gas (IG) provides commercial support to Upstream in the development of major gas value chains, optimises BP's European equity gas supplies, trades and markets third party gas and power, and trades and optimises equity and merchant LNG. IG also houses a Treasury Trading team who manage BP's FX and money market activities. IG has high a significant commercial agenda and major growth ambitions, including supporting the delivery of major Upstream gas value chains around the world (amongst others including Trinidad, the Caspian, Oman, Indonesia, Australia, Egypt and Alaska), growing its European Gas and Power business and building a 20+mtpa flexible BP LNG portfolio.
