Role synopsis

The LNG Assurance Superintendent provides specialist marine assurance for Group LNG shipping activity and marine assurance to the Global Gas SPUs for strategic medium to long term LNG business opportunities and for the development of LNG/LPG projects.

Key accountabilities

·  Provide regional point of contact for gas and marine assurance aspects of all LNG projects
·  Maintain close liaison with Exploration and Production and others when requested by Manager, Gas Assurance Team, to ensure BP Shipping's early inclusion on gas project developments.
·  Maintain close liaison with IST Global Gas SPUs: Gas Trading Europe and LNG, and Gas Asia, when requested by Gas Assurance Manager, to provide Marine Assurance review of new and revised commercial LNG shipping agreements including Master Trading, and Sale and Purchase Agreements and ensure prompt delivery of Marine Assurance due diligence for new ports and terminals associated with these agreements.
·  Act as Single Point of Contact for strategic gas ports and terminals within region as requested by Gas Assurance Manager to ensure prompt resolution of ship/shore interface issues, including ship/shore compatibility, Due Diligence, gas ship traffic management and the ongoing review of marine services in co-operation with Marine Service contract holder.
·  Provide support and advice to third party and external contractors who are employed for specific marine and shipping projects within the region and act as single point of contact for external contractor relationships as directed by Gas Assurance Manager.
·  Provide marine input into LNG / LPG incident investigations.
·  Provide assistance, as subject matter expert, with regional Gas Terminal Audits as requested by Gas Assurance Manager.
·  Provide information to enable management of costs for the administration of all activities directly related to the provision of marine assurance.
·  Provide LNG / LPG advice to the BP Shipping's Emergency Management Team.
·  Represent BP Shipping in local LNG/LPG industry bodies and working groups as appropriate and as determined in association with the Manager, Gas Assurance Team.
·  Provide data and assist BP Shipping Risk Team with the preparation of periodic Liquefied Natural Gas Major Accident Reviews as directed by Gas Assurance Manager
Essential Education

·  Class 1 Deck (Master Mariner) or Class 1 Marine Engineer or equivalent professional marine qualification
·  Relevant experience as Chief Officer and/or Master or Chief Engineer on board LNG (or LPG) carriers
Desirable criteria and qualifications

·  Experience of Risk Assessment processes, HAZID, HAZOP & QRA
·  Understanding of project management processes, CVP and MPcp
·  Knowledge of port operations, terminal development and berth design issues
