Role synopsis

BP is looking for gap year students, to join our BP Group Economics team for an Economics Work Placement Programme in London. The team comprises of three main functions: Macroeconomics, Energy Markets and Oil Refining, with members located in the UK, US, Asia and Russia. They provide insightful analysis of global energy markets and trends to inform numerous decisions. As part of these responsibilities, the economics team is responsible for producing BP's statistical review of world energy and BP's energy outlook.
This role will give you an opportunity to learn about how economic analysis can be used to generate economic insight and forecasts whilst gaining experience of research in practice. Our work involves witnessing and applying economic techniques you may have studied to topical real-world issues faced by our BP colleagues across the globe.
As the successful candidate for the role, you will support the team in on research projects, analysing data, producing presentations material and much more. The length of the placement is negotiable, but is expected to be 12 months.

Key accountabilities

·  Supporting research activity and projects within the economics energy field
·  Production, collation and organisation of economic data
·  Applying basic economics principles to produce useful information and insights
·  Conducting internal briefings of findings and analysis
·  Creating insightful presentation material and reports for the Group Economics Team including integrating contributions for other team members;
·  Preparing speech and presentation material for the Chief of Economics Spencer Dale.
·  Supporting research streams and fundamental energy economic analysis, which shapes the Energy Outlook narrative
·  Support the production of the Annual Fiscal Review and Energy Outlook
Essential Education

To apply, you should be presently studying towards a degree or equivalent in Economics/Energy related field. (Penultimate)

Essential experience and job requirements
