Role synopsis
The core role of the Electrical Engineer is to progress day to day activities within the electrical engineering team and provide advice on the technical integrity of the power generation systems and all electrical components of the production and utilities facilities.
The Angola offshore facilities utilize 8 gas turbines to generate nearly 250 Megawatts power.
This an outstanding opportunity for a results-driven discipline Engineer to showcase and develop their Engineering and Leadership skills in an Operations work environment. The technical aspects of this unique position are ideally suited for a candidate seeking to progress their career down a Technical or Management career path.
The Discipline Engineering Team (DE) is responsible for providing engineering support to the 2 BP operated FPSO's offshore Angola. The DE supports the Area Engineering Support Team (AEST) in the day to day operational support activities as necessary, and is also accountable for providing cross asset, strategic engineering solutions from within the Engineering Services Organization.
Given the nature of the Angola Region Operations organization structure, the engineers within the Discipline Engineering Team have a unique opportunity to get an ideal mix of being closely connected with the day to day asset operation as well as focusing on the broader Region picture.

Key accountabilities
· Responsible focal point for allocated electrical activities, engineering queries, and MOCsResponsible for providing discipline engineering support to the offshore assets in troubleshooting and resolving operations, maintenance, and technical issues
· Carry out electrical engineering studies as part of the Pre-Appraise phase of electrical engineering CAT C projects
· Work with electrical engineering contractors and suppliers
· Provide technical input to risk assessments, HazIDs, HazOPs, and failure investigations
· Comply with electrical codes, standards, and regulations relevant to electrical systems.
· Work in collaboration with specialists and engineers of all disciplines, both within BP Angola and across other parts of BP and actively participate in BP CoPs and external networks where appropriate
Essential Education
Degree in Electrical Engineering
Desirable criteria and qualifications
· Practical experience of field or plant commissioning and operation, particularly offshore, including power generation and production systems.
· Knowledge and experience of the engineering contractor community and contract strategy development
· Experience of technical supervision and quality control of specialist consultancies
· Experience in multi-cultural environments
