Role synopsis

This role reports to the Corrosion Management Team Leader.

The Corrosion Engineer will lead the development and implementation of the corrosion management and control programs and support the execution of the pressure systems and floating systems corrosion control programs.

They will lead the corrosion risk assessments, and support delivery of the corrosion control programs through input to materials selection, chemical treatments, cathodic protection and fabric maintenance.

Tracks the performance of the control programs and contractors through KPI's and corrosion monitoring.

Key accountabilities

Supporting the development and execution of the offshore pressure systems inspection program through the following:

·  Developing and implementing corrosion management systems for offshore platforms.
·  Provides corrosion engineering input to corrosion risk based assessments (RBA's), anomaly management and to day to day operations.
·  Collating corrosion monitoring data, chemical treatment data, cathodic protection data and preparation of monthly KPI reports. Reviewing corrosion monitoring data and developing corrective action plans to control programs.
·  Providing input to erosion management activities through modelling and threat assessment.
·  Leading monthly corrosion management meetings, tracking action and improvement plans. Preparation of the monthly corrosion management dashboard.
·  Executing corrosion awareness activities with off and onshore teams.
·  Providing specialist materials and corrosion technical support to other engineering / operations teams as required.
·  Managing delivery of support contractors to budget and schedule.
·  Demonstrate leadership and compliance with BP HSSE expectations.
·  Distributing and gathering shared learnings with other disciplines relevant to corrosion management
Essential Education

University Degree
Desirable criteria and qualifications

·  A Masters in corrosion science or engineering.
·  Familiar with cathodic protection systems design or operation.
·  Familiar with NDT techniques selection and application.

Desired profile

Essential experience and job requirements

·  A degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials or another relevant discipline.
·  An understanding of materials properties, material degradation mechanisms and mitigation techniqueswithin the upstream oil and gas sector.
·  Familiar with chemical treatments for oil and gas production systems
·  Familiar with corrosion monitoring techniques
·  Experience of corrosion management in an oil and gas operations evnironment
·  Conversant with isometric drawings, pressure equipment general arrangement drawings and piping and instrumentation drawings (P&IDs).
·  Good written and oral English language skills.
·  Working towards Chartered or Professional engineer status.
·  Azerbaijani citizenship is required
