Role synopsis
The role of Commodity Risk Analyst is a key control position within the Commodity Risk and Integrated Supply & Trading (IST) Finance organization, in the Global Oil Trading business. This role is accountable for providing deep business understanding and control through the delivery of value-added reporting and analysis. This role holds the primary interface into the trading front office for Encironmental Products trading activity, balancing independence with a business enabling partnership. This position requires a deep understanding of the activities within Commodity Risk in order to meet the team's core accountability of delivering independent daily exposures, P&L reporting and analysis.
Global Environmental Products (GEP) has the following coreactivities: managing BP's carbon emission trading business, optimisingBP Group's emissions obligations world-wide; maximising valuewhile ensuring compliance with US EPA and ARB mandates andglobal regulations; managing a portfolio of Primary and Secondaryprojects in support of the longer term Environmental Products strategy.

Key accountabilities
Daily deal deal level exposure and P&L validation:
On a daily basis, timely validation ofdeal blotters and business summaries from the front office to ensure that new business deals are accurately represented in the system.Daily price validationMaintain and review deal level MTM, exposure and P&LLiaise with front office to resolve any discrepancies on counterparty, pricing, volume and MTM valuationMaintain and review portfolio exposure by strategy against defined limits
· Review operational activity for exposure and P&L impacts
· Accurately validating, monitoring and managing ancillaries and related P&L on a daily basis including troubleshooting and resolving any related issues.
· Support regional and global process standardisation initiatives
· Support any ad hoc reporting requirements
· Global P&L reporting:
· Responsible for portfolio level validation of the daily generated P&L
· Generatestandard exposure and P&L reports from the systems of record
· Perform validation of exposure and P&L by pre-defined attribution and rules (e.g. by commodity, market/region, grades, new deals, MTM moves)
· Timely delivery of consolidated P&L for the trading benches in Singapore, London and Chicago, and work closely with them to resolve any issues
· Support any ad hoc P&L reporting requirements

Desirable criteria and qualifications
· Accounting/Business degree or formally recognised Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) beneficial.
· IT (systems) skills (Endur/OpenLink, SAP, Business Objects, Excel & Access)
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Demonstrates a working knowledge of the concept of mark-to-market and is able to articulate market/price volatility in terms of its effect on P&L, cash flow and working capital.
· Can readily calculate exposure based on new, existing or proposed trading positions.
· Able to understand and interpret operational risk data; identifies critical data for businesses and functions; highlights data most relevant to business drivers.
· Able to handle deviations and exceptions and knows when to escalate any significant control breakdown
