Role synopsis

This role sits within the GTEL Commodity Risk Strategic Delivery team within BP's supply and trading business and is a key control position within the Commodity Risk and Integrated Supply & Trading Finance organization. This role is accountable for providing deep business understanding on risk measurement and control through maintenance and development of robust risk measurement models, interpretation and improvement of risk and control policies and procedures, and analysis of market conditions and trading positions. This role holds the primary interface into the trading front office for a specific set of trading activity, balancing independence with a business enabling partnership. This position requires a deep understanding of the activities within Commodity Risk Analytics in order to meet the team's core accountability of delivering independent analysis and reporting.

Key accountabilities

·  Interpreting existing IST commodity risk policies and ensuring their correct application in GTEL as well as providing input into the definition of new policies and procedures.
·  Providing commodity risk input required as part of the functional assurance process through which new activities and projects considered by the Front Office are being evaluated and approved
·  Implementing and delivering the projects affecting the overall GTEL control framework and ensuring compliance with the overall IST control framework
·  Supporting the Regional Risk Committee meeting including long term framework update.
·  Supporting the IST register meeting including the GTEL IST register update and leverage and enhancement of the process.
·  Engaging the Front Office, other functions, and management to ensure transparency of commodity risk drivers
Essential Education

University Degree or equivalent experience.

Desirable criteria and qualifications

·  Solid understanding of European natural gas market drivers and physical assets (eg. storage capacity)
·  Good understanding of the fundamental of trading include options, derivatives and other trading instruments.
·  Strong numeracy and advanced Excel skills
·  Relevant experience preferably in Gas Europe or LNG Product Control, Market Risk, or Trading roles
·  Professional qualifications in financial analysis, risk management, accounting, or equivalent areas
·  Business experience in financial accounting and/or control within a trading environment
