Role synopsis
Role synopsis This front office market analyst role involves working as part of the European and Global middle distillate trading benches.
Utilising a wide range of data/information sources and analytical methods the analyst will work closely with IST traders to drive successful trading strategy. One of the core elements of IST Global Oil Analytics is to identify changes in supply and demand fundamentals and communicate the likely impact on price action to the trading benches in a timely fashion, helping drive continued growth in trading profits. You will be engaged in monitoring European and Global middle distillate fundamentals to forecast price. Analysis will cover the Global Economy and impact on distillate demand, refinery optimisation and impact on distillate supply, trade flows and drivers of speculative flows into the commodity complex. The candidate will also be involved in longer term Analytics projects, which aim to give BP greater insight into cross commodity linkages, supporting strategy workstreams.

Key accountabilities
- Forecast European and Global oil demand and supply using different methods, including but not limited to, econometric modelling and data science approaches.
- Drive useful and insightful analysis across trading
BOOKS, HIGHLIGHTING POSITION RISK AND CONTRIBUTING TO TRADING STRATEGY
- Work closely with traders, originators and analysts within the regions to share knowledge and meet common objectives
- Model and communicate linkages between markets such as crude and products and how these linkages change over time
- Identify and test opportunities for analysis that will support the commodity lines in the region
- Support development of the Analytics infrastructure
- Build and implement models and tools
- Continually solicit requests for ad hoc analysis
