Role synopsis

Reporting to the Global Engineering and Projects Manager, this role provides a professional engineering and project management service to Air BP. The post holder provides technical guidance to Air BP's geographic regions ensuring the delivery of safe, reliable and compliant operations. The role requires the incumbent to deliver specific engineering support for the design, installation, operation and maintenance of mechanical systems, aviation fuelling equipment and fixed/mobile storage facilities. In addition the role requires management of multi-disciplined projects including development of existing and new aviation fuel depot facilities. Another key responsibility of the Aviation Project Engineer is to assist with the creation, development and maintenance of Air BP operating standards in accordance with industry practice, BP Group regulations and relevant legislation. The role provides opportunity to develop skills in multiple areas of engineering and project management.

The purpose of the role is to create a pipeline of technical capability to provide for the future needs of the business, in particular with respect to technical succession within the Technical Function in Sunbury and the ability of the Function to support the PUs in specialist areas.

The Aviation Engineer will be further trained and developed as an aviation technical specialist, supporting projects and objectives for both the engineering team and the operations team in order to ensure a broad range of technical experience.

Key accountabilities

·  Manage multi-disciplined projects through from conception to hand-over to the operator, including: liaising with airport authorities, feasibility studies, project budget and cost control, project planning and reporting, site surveys and environmental impact assessments, design, procurement, contractor selection and tendering, site supervision incl. permit to work oversight, commissioning and operator training.
·  Participate in Project Governance Boards to ensure project proposals are assessed and progressed via the Capital Value Process (CVP).
·  Liaise with 3rd party operations and maintenance personnel, inspection consultants and other engineering disciplines and specialists.
·  Be responsible for the upkeep and stewardship of Air BP documentation including creation and development of allocated engineering standards.
·  Ensure technical practices incorporate applicable local standards and regulatory requirements.
·  Conduct engineering compliance assessment visits, recording results and recommendations.
·  Provide assurance and verification of technical practice compliance throughout Air BP's PUs.
·  Identify opportunities for innovation and development of Air BP systems and processes to ensure safe operations, professional engineering standards are maintained and capital efficiency is maximised.
·  Freely share best practice and lessons learnt and proactively collaborate on projects and programs.
·  Provide on-going technical input and engineering support relating to designs and specification of plant equipment and systems.
·  Assist in the risk assessment and engineering review/approval of modifications via the Management of Change (MOC) process.
·  Participate in, contribute to, and/or lead, Project Health Safety Security and Environment Reviews, HAZOPs, Root Cause Analysis and MOCs.
Essential Education

A degree in an engineering or related discipline
Desirable criteria and qualifications

·  Chartered Engineering Status (or working toward this)
·  A working engineering knowledge of mobile equipment desirable (example: aviation refuelling vehicles)
