Role synopsis

The primary responsibility of this role is the coordination and fulfilment of lubricants Analytical services for the China lubricants business.

Based in the Castrol China Technology Centre in Shanghai, this role reports into the Analytical Team Leader for Analytical services and covers all Analytical activities relating to the entire Castrol range of lubricants products, raw materials and related customer services analysis work.

Key accountabilities

• Provide a high level of chemical and physical analysis supporting customer technical service, formulation studies, new materials evaluation and QA activities.
• Commission new equipment and deliver high standard Analytical services for the China Technology Centre in a safe and compliant way.
• Maintain equipment log and inventory of accessories, and take charge of equipment maintenance, metrology & calibration as equipment owner.
• Manage incoming samples, in-progress samples and retained samples in a safe and compliant way.
• Maintain inventory of regular reagents and standards.
• Work with the China Technology teams to deliver technical training for the China Lubes business for Automotive and Industrial lubricants.
• Work with Customer Engagement Coordinator to demonstrate the Analytical capabilities of the China Technology Centre to our customers.

Essential Education

Minimum college level degree in Analytical Chemistry, PetroChemistry or Chemistry.

Essential experience and job requirements

• A minimum of ~3 year's industry experience in Analytical chemistry with emphasis on instrumental analysis including ICP, FT-IR and GC.
• Analytical experience covering lubricants, process fluids, corrosion preventives and greases and a good working knowledge of the China Automotive lubricants market is important and would be viewed as an advantage.
