Job description

Analysts are at the heart of every decision we make at Boots and are key to our success.

All about the Assistant CRP Data Analyst role…

CRP Data Analysts enjoy turning raw data into useful information and knowing that this information underpins some of the most important decisions we make as a business.

To quote an existing CRP analyst, "The work I do helps support the business by making sure we have the right selection of products for our customers, as well as keeping our prices in line with our competitors. Having the right product selection will mean that our customers will buy more from us, thereby increasing profitability".

We work on over 40 projects each year, each one addressing a specific product area (Eg. Baby, Suncare, Pain Relief, etc) and involving 4-6 weeks’ of intense data collation and manipulation work.

It’s a fast paced, demanding environment but we’re a friendly and supportive team and enjoy a challenge! We are renowned for our attention to detail and 'can do’ attitude.

We gain a really good understanding of how the business works through frequent contact with other teams - buyers, merchandisers, supply, other analytical teams, etc. Our ability to form and maintain good working relationships with colleagues within these teams is vital.

As a CRP Data Analyst, your key role will be to support the development of Excel macros to automate and streamline our set up processes. We’re also entering an exciting new phase of development where we will be creating a whole suite of new reports and visualisations using the Spotfire tool and this role will play in key part in that work. You will be supporting our CMI and IT colleagues with the wider development of Spotfire as part of the Alchemy project. The role will also support our level 7 assistant analysts in the day to day production of CRP insight packs.

You will also assist the CRP Coaches with the initiation of each project, present your key findings to the buying teams, and be constantly on hand to provide analytical expertise and advice.

What we are looking for…

You will need:

• A keen interest in how retail works and in the Boots business in general.

• To (preferably) be qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in a numerate discipline - preferably Statistics, Mathematics, Marketing or Business Studies.

• Knowledge of business analysis, marketing or other relevant commercial disciplines.

• To be computer literate and skilled in using Excel spreadsheets and Power Point (working knowledge of lookups, pivot tables and charts would be an advantage as well as a working knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications). Some exposure to SQL would be beneficial but full training will be provided.

• Ideally 1 year’s commercial experience in an analytical role.

• Excellent team working and communication skills.

• A keen eye for detail and a drive to constantly improve efficiencies.

Make every future a success.
