Bombardier Transportation offers a comprehensive portfolio of rail systems which includes radio based rail control, wayside, integrated control systems, interlocking, and automatic train protection and train operation systems.
Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, you will design, test, and implement RF systems for our Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) solutions for Bombardier's metro and automated people mover systems. You will focus on hardware design, proposals, product support, regulatory compliance, and strategic programs for future products.
In your role you will
- Design and test RF and network communication systems;
- Develop a test philosophy for regulatory compliance testing;
- Conduct testing to support new product introduction;
- Manage documentation deliver such as bill of materials (BOM), drawings, etc. to ensure timeliness and compliance;
- Interface and partner with cross-functional engineers working on train control subsystems for Bombardier's CBTC solutions to ensure quality and compatibility.

Qualifications
As our ideal candidate:
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field;
- You possess five (5) to seven (7) years in a similar engineering role;
- Positive Train Control (PTC) experience will be considered an asset;
- You understand basic RF network design concepts such as link budgets, free-space propagation relevant to mobile applications, and RF component selection ;
- You possess experience in using and creating design documentation such as assembly drawings, schematics, test plans and procedures, and bills-of-material (BOMs) in a configuration-controlled environment;
- You demonstrate working knowledge of Ethernet switches, Routers, and Firewalls;You demonstrate understanding of software such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio;
- Possess experience using Microsoft Excel for engineering calculations;
- You can operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams;
- You possess a background in understanding and implementing customer requirements;
- You demonstrate strong written and verbal English communication skills;
- You demonstrate critical attention to detail and deadlines, and are self-motivated;You possess the ability to adapt well to change in direction and priorities in a project and deadline-oriented environment.
Additional information: The incumbent of this position must be able to travel up to 15% of the time, domestically or international.
