On behalf of our customers we are responsible within Services Execution for the maintenance and safe delivery of trains into service on a daily basis from our Fleet Maintenance Depots. Integral to the success of our Business in defining the correct strategy, and working with all parts of the Supporting Functions to ensure the smooth running of our Fleet Maintenance Depots. We are also working closely with our customers to reduce costs to maximise the train life cycle through remote based monitoring.

We are currently looking to recruit a Fleet Maintenance Training Manager (m/f). This is primarily based at our heritage site in Derby but if the London area is your preference, we would be flexible.

This is to lead the Fleet Maintenance Training function to support the delivery of projects and the realisation of sustainable change. The occupant of this role will drive strategic transformation across Service Execution by providing development and training interventions, further improving delivery of objectives. This includes a focus on developing talent management and leadership development capabilities across the business whilst providing regular updates to the Head of Fleet Maintenance on retention, skills gaps and potential talent issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership & Development

- To lead & manage the Fleet Maintenance Training Team including; Learning and Development Coordinator, Head of Training & Competency, Head of Technical Training.
- Ensuring accountability and quality delivery.
- Advise, persuade and influence Services Division Leaders (UK) on matters relating to training and competence management.

Organisational Capability

- Support the definition of the organisational capability using all HR available processes, procedures and tools including: Selection and Recruitment, Performance Management, Development Plans, Talent Management, Succession Planning.
- Lead the delivery of leadership and strategic management to drive sustainable change and cultural transformation in Service Execution through advancing the further development of the Academy Schemes.

New Technology Development

- Explore future technology to enhance the training quality and effectiveness including benchmarking and implementation of other business models to ensure the development of a fully integrated training and competency management system and Dynamic & Interactive Training & Assessment.

External Interface and Governance

- External interface and Governance, Stakeholder Management, setting up SLAs with relevant technical colleges etc.
- Negotiation and control of budgetary costs for training and associated costs.
- Future Bids support and planning to meet future pipeline requirements.
- Monthly governance reviews and risk planning.

Qualifications

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

- Previous experience within a similar role is desired.
- Strong experience in leading, managing and developing teams.
- Good influencing and negotiating skills.
- Knowledge of the railway industry would be ideal however we are open in discussing with people coming from different backgrounds whether it be nuclear or aerospace.
- Availability for frequent travel within the UK.
- The ability to communicate across all levels and help others improve.
