With 61 production and engineering sites and 18 service centres in 28 countries, Bombardier Transportation is a global leader in the rail industry. We cover the full spectrum of rail solutions, ranging from complete trains to sub-systems, maintenance services, system integration and signalling. Our installed base of rolling stock exceeds 100,000 rail cars and locomotives worldwide. Our 39,400 employees continue a proud tradition of delivering ingenious rail transportation solutions.
Bombardier’s Litchurch Lane factory is the UK’s leading and longest-standing train manufacturing site, founded in 1876 by the Midland Railway, is recognized as the most efficient train factory and a global centre of excellence in aluminium train technology in Bombardier’s global network, forming an integrated works where trains are designed as well as assembled. The trains being delivered from the Derby manufacturing facility have recorded world record breaking reliability statistics.
Your role
Currently the team is working on high-profile projects such as rolling stock for the new Elizabeth Line (Crossrail) for Transport for London, LOTrain for London Overground and the East Anglia project for Abellio. With exciting bids and projects coming on-stream in 2017, there has never been a better time to join Bombardier.
The primary purpose of this role is the conducting of analysis to enable the reliability and safety assurance for UK projects such that Bombardier’s metro and mainline trains present acceptable levels of safety and reliability
The role is to ensure that safety and reliability is managed during project phases up until the point of service introduction of the product following approval by the respective approval authorities.
The role requires the conducting of product safety and reliability management activities undertaken to ensure that, within timescale and budget constraints, products are demonstrably reliable and safe by design and build, and that all necessary customer and regulatory body safety/reliability related endorsements are obtained for passenger service operation.
Your tasks
• Maintenance of a detailed robust plan and budget for the work undertaken
• Performance of reliability and safety assessment activities associated with the defined role to achieve the timely substantiation of the designs to enable them to enter passenger service.
• Support the development and production of National or European standards and processes for the management of reliability and safety to ensure that the future development of Company objectives and activities are appropriately aligned and acceptable.
• Provide a source of expertise and advice to other members of the Product Safety and Reliability Dept. and the project in relation to project safety and reliability matters
