PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Locomotive Safety Engineer is the person responsible for safety tasks in locomotive projects and driving the project team along the safety process. S/he also supports technical interfaces with internal/external key actors (e.g. assessors, system engineering, AM, etc.) and ensures proper work execution in coordination with engineering specialists, team-leaders and project engineers.

YOUR TASKS

• Perform hazards analysis and risk assessment, derive and address product safety requirements, ensure the implementation and fulfilment of safety requirements according applicable rules and standards, support design team in developing design for safety

• Responsible for Safety deliverables in the project on time and quality: execution of Hazard and risk analysis, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), contribution to Failure Modes and Effects (Criticality) Analysis session in cooperation with other experts, leads design safety reviews internally and with external entities (Assessors, suppliers, customers); set up and maintenance of Hazard Log, support V&V tasks, prepare safety case

• Lead project core team in dealing with safety topics: definition of safety strategy and safety plan according BT safety process, ensure compliance with BT safety rules

• Plan, schedule and monitor the status of the safety milestones within the project to ensure proper schedule in cooperation with PE/PM, ensure safety deliverables on time and on quality

• Drive the engineering team in the decision making and problem solving in its proper domain of expertize and reports to management

Qualifikationen

• master degree in Engineering, electronics, electrics, automation or similar
• good experience with MS Office
• experience with the most common tools for requirements management (Doors) and Fault Tree analysis (FT+)
• experience in product safety domain of at least 3 years, preferred within Railway business
• experience in functional design of complex systems, ability to read and understand schematics
• experience with the most common techniques of failures analyses (FMECA, FTA, RBD etc)
• requirements management and quality assurance processes
• safety and V&V processes
• fluent in English and German
• customer orientation, engagement, team working, results oriented and skills in problems solving
• good presentation and communication skills especially to simplify complex issues
• good skills for working with customers, suppliers and BT internal teams as well as intercultural skills
• systematic, analytical and flexible mindset
• sxperience / knowledge in railway technologies
• experience in the safety area in the railway business, vehicle authorization requirements and APIS process (e.g. homologation requirements in Europe and the NNTR checklists of homologation requirements)
• Deep experience with the standards EN50126, EN 50128, EN50129 , European legal framework in railway domain (e.g. TSIs), and CSM regulation is mandatory
• Experience in the safety area in the railway business, vehicle authorization requirements and APIS process (e.g. homologation requirements in Europe and the NNTR checklists of homologation requirements)
