Job description

To work within the Chinook Through Life Customer Support (TLCS) Programme based at Almondbank, Perth. TLCS is a Performance Based Logistics (PBL), Spares Inclusive Programme, supporting the RAF’s Chinook Helicopter Fleet.  The intern post would be directly supporting the Boeing Technical Support & Site Manager, located at the Vector Aerospace International (VAIL) facility at Almondbank, Perth.  The VAIL facility undertakes Maintenance, Repair and Overall (MRO) of RAF Chinook flight safety critical rotable components.

The Boeing Technical Support & Site Manager is a key interface with VAIL Almondbank and has responsibility for:  ensuring that Design Organization Technical Support is provided to VAIL Almondbank; the Component Repair Program (CRP) is established to meet the requirements of the UK Chinook Fleet; that in-service publications are updated and maintained at the required periodicity; that the Boeing infrastructure at Almondbank is maintained to the required standard; and managing Boeing staff assigned to the position as agreed with Boeing functional heads.

In support of the Boeing Technical Support & Site Manager, the intern would be required to:

• Undertake data analysis in support of the MRO programme.  In particular, play an active part in a program of capturing trend data to enhance component recovery.

• Support the maintenance and upkeep of engineering records eg; repair dispositions and root cause leading to MRB dispositioning.

• Gain an understanding of how engineering principles are applied at an overhaul facility under the guidance of a MRB engineer

• Augment extant component maintenance manuals and maintain accurate spares forecasting and recovery statistics. 

• Undertake a similar role with respect to Technical publications data.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  •  Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace degree
  •  Good grades at A level in Maths and Sciences

Detail the core skills that the ideal candidate will possess (e.g.; numerical, analytical, communication, organisation, attention to detail, etc.)

  • Good Communication skills, Good analytical skills, a willingness to learn new processes and techniques, numerate and literate (Some report writing may be required), an interest in a wide range of engineering disciplines.Must be proficient in basic Office type computer tool (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
