Job description

Established in 1996, Body & Soul is a charity dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of people of all ages living with and affected by HIV. It is a vital lifeline for an isolated and often forgotten group of people who are struggling to live with the direct and indirect effects of the virus.

Our public health intern will have the opportunity to gain a broad understanding of all the factors that contribute to health support for our members, the structure of healthcare systems and funding opportunities, current government policy, and how to effectively interpret data. This internship is aimed at building key public health skills, including monitoring and evaluation, needs assessments, and collaborative working.

Our public health intern will be….

Assisting with primary monitoring and evaluation work, including needs assessments and formative, process, and outcomes evaluation.
Participating in and representing Body & Soul at statutory and third sector events
Providing administrative support and reports writing
Drafting consultation responses
Potential for additional involvement depending on candidate characteristics and goals

We are looking for interns who…

Are committed and enthusiastic
Have relevant experience and qualifications
Are looking to gain meaningful work experience in the field of HIV /Public Health
Are motivated, self directed workers who are committed to producing high-quality work
Can commit to a minimum 3 days a week for a minimum of 3 months

ody & Soul internships are dynamic and exciting, providing the opportunity to become involved in areas of the charity which would normally require greater experience. Because Body & Soul is grass-roots organisation, the opportunity to see the way a charity is run on a day to day basis are greater. We offer weekly 'Intern Skill and Development Classes' run each week by a different member of the Body & Soul staff team, these give you the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of key aspects of the charity sector.
