Department Overview
BNP Paribas' Global Markets business offers a broad range of products and services in the global interest rate, credit, currency, equities & commodity markets. Global Markets help their franchise of clients find effective ways to raise and invest capital as well as manage their exposure to risk. Their client base comprises of hundreds of corporations, institutional investors, banks, governments and supranational organizations.
Global Markets has the scale and reach to conduct business anywhere in the world and deliver products denominated in almost all of the world's currencies. Overall Job Purpose
Emerging Markets Economist to support research, sales and trading desks.
Key Proven Responsibilities
The analyst's responsibilities will include researching emerging market countries, including in Latin America (including Brazil, Mexico and Colombia), in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa (Including Turkey, Poland and South Africa), prepare analysis and reports identifying macroeconomic and market trends, vulnerabilities and prospects as well as thematic notes, monitoring of geopolitical developments and previews about relevant events and work in close support to the head of global emerging markets research for other ad hoc requests.
The successful candidate will work within the Markets 360 emerging markets team, with a focus on the macro-economics of emerging markets, especially Latin America and more specifically Brazil, Mexico and Colombia , and will apply strong quantitative, analytical, writing and presentation skills.

Experience
Bachelor degree in Economics

Specialization in Macroeconomic Forecasting

Proven experience using Microsoft Office
·
Fluent in English, Portuguese (advanced, preferably native), and Spanish (advanced).

Strong communication skills, with excellent written and verbal skills.
·
Proven experience of relevant financial market experience in macroeconomic analysis of Latin America economies, specifically Brazil, Mexico and Colombia, including experience in working with a variety of clients (including institutional and corporate clients), sales and traders, besides proven interaction with policymakers in these countries.

Experience with Eviews (9.0), Bloomberg, and Macrobond.
- Strong macro-economic analysis skills, applied in the context of emerging markets
- Strong quantitative analysis skills, including econometric analysis such as multivariate regression.
- Strong team-working skills
- Flexibility to work longer hours when required and to publish notes on tight deadlines
- Availability to travel if required.
