Job description

MAIN GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Development and delivery of ESC system performance to meet the required project attributes.

Responsible for the specification, test and validation plan to achieve the cost, timing and quality targets for the project. Achieve engineering signoff for systems and components in area of responsibility.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Support and Lead Design Development

·  Advanced Awareness of Design and development techniques and technology in area of responsibility.
·  Advanced ability to capture and specify the design requirements in area of responsibility.
·  Support the Engineering test & validation planning and sign off for systems and components in area of responsibility.
·  Support Engineering release and change management process.

Delivery of projects

·  Responsible for planning and managing project related activities on a Weekly Basis. Reporting of project status for area of responsibility in functional area. #
·  Intermediate understanding of cross functional working with other areas of the business.
·  Active participation working with suppliers for progressing project deliverables. Basic financial awareness of their role in the organisation.
·  Knowledge of cost of parts and systems with an understanding of value engineering.

Problem Solving

·  Ability to solve complex Engineering and design related problems, with company tools.
·  Analysis and management of several design related issues to identify the root cause. 
·  Collect, manage and analyse data to produce reports/presentations as appropriate and progress design guidelines.
·  Deliver presentations at appropriate level.

Developing and maintaining Specialist knowledge

·  Responsible for keeping the local team up-to-date with technology in area of responsibility.
·  Capture learning from previous experience.
·  Understand and maintain liaison with VW group partners to keep up to date with latest group developments.

Ability to work within a team

·  Able to work effectively in the functional team.
·  Support of own contribution in delivering team objectives. 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

·  Proven vehicle evaluation and development of Chassis attributes at Automotive OEM or sub contract provider
·  Demonstrable experience of Project + Supplier Management.
·  Ability to communicate at various levels across the company in different forums
·  Software Calibration and application knowledge/experience.
·  Ability to influence colleagues within your area of responsibility
·  Understanding of financial limits within area of responsibility
·  Ability to solve problems 
·  German language skills preferable

PRACTICAL & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

·  Demonstrable experience of a Chassis development role at an automotive OEM or sub contract development company
·  Demonstrable experience of Project + Supplier Management
·  Competent in Chassis system software application tools and Microsoft Office applications
·  Understanding of Product Emergence Process (PEP)
·  Flexibility for significant travel (mainly European) is required as part of this role.

QUALIFICATIONS

·  Engineering Degree or equivalent
·  Evidence of formal performance driving training from a reputable provider or OEM.
