Job description

MAIN OBJECTIVES

The Electrical Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, agreeing and delivering detailed planning requirements and concerns closure as allocated to them by the Functional Manager. This includes planning for MY introduction into Final Assembly and supporting Series Production, and resolution of all concerns. The Process Planning Engineer must deliver to the agreed Quality, Cost and Delivery targets whilst ensuring TS16949, Health & Safety and VW Standards compliance to ensure full electrical support for the respective assembly lines.

This is a production planning engineering role responsible for the analysis and root cause of complex systmeatic electrical problems.  A understand of electrical systeems, mechnical integration and production control system s are essential for this role. Working closely with SWT’s, Engineering, Modules and other Production Planning functions to ensure that manufacturing feasibility is analysed and validated for electrical distribution systems and their mechanical interfaces.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

Technical

Responsible for the planning, delivery of all electrical inputs to ensure pre series/ series electrical success
Responsible for delivery of APQP activities in line with PEP
Responsible for manufacturing sign-off of Bid specs and product B-release in-line with project timings and PEP deliverables
Identification and resolution of concerns through concerns tracker and VDS/KPM system
Identification of Jig, Fixture and Tooling requirements,
Ensure continual updating of technical knowledge. E.g. Liaison with Group Colleagues, Benchmarking, Training etc.
Responsible for electrical analysis
Ability to deliver production control changes

Financial

Delivery of projects within agreed budget targets
Management of project cost risks
Supporting justification for Capital Expenditure Investment
Supporting 3P workshop activities to achieve K & P time targets

Planning

Concurrence of responses to Business requirements, e.g. TCD and AEKO, etc.
Generation of deliverable milestones & monitoring detailed Project plans
Work in close conjunction with other areas of production planning (launch and facilities) to ensure a consolidated approach and the continuous development of effective and efficient ways of working.
Support the planning of layouts electrical to ensure process flow through dynamic and rework areas

Project Management

Delivery of all projects in accordance with Business requirements (Quality, Cost and Timing) and alignment with PEP

Pro-active avoidance or containment of Project risks

People

Supporting of team initiatives and activities in relation to Stimmungsbarometer and colleague engagement

Demonstrable experience in

Manufacturing build process knowledge
Electrical architecture and diagnostic equipment

PRACTICAL & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

Extensive Practical Knowledge in Problem Solving Techniques

Ability to Evaluate K and P times in Line with Manufacturing Business Strategy
An Understanding of Measurement Techniques
Knowledge of Dry Builds and Properties Strategy
Extensive Knowledge of Vehicle Build Processes

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred ONC/HNC/HND in Engineering discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience

This is a level Tarif  position based within the Pre-Series Electrical Planning (PPXP) department at our Head Office in Crewe, Cheshire. Tarif is a non-management position within the organisational structure.
