What are we looking for?

Position Requirements

·  The position suits an experienced professional from a top-tier energy company or financial services institution. Prior exposure to these technologies is preferred.
·  At least ten years of relevant business experience in project finance or a comparable background in investment banking preferably in energy.
·  Ideally having been actively involved in winning and executing large scale advisory mandates and/or lead arranging and bookrunning positions.
·  Broad and sophisticated knowledge in financial modelling and project finance techniques reflecting a thorough understanding of different accounting standards . Ability to translate ideas into financial structures and guide junior colleagues in this regard.
·  Business School/University degree in economics or business administration or law, ideally combined with international working experience.

·  Very structured and organized

Responsibilities

As part of the Project Finance team in Madrid, the successful candidate will be responsible for originating, structuring and executing complex large-scale financing mandates in the Electrical Mobility EV, hydrogen, battery storage, CCS/CCUS, Biogas, etc fields. Based in BBVA’s project Finance HQ, the candidate will play a pivotal role in executing BBVA’s strategy in these emerging energy technologies.

The successful principal will have principal responsibilities comprising the following:

·  Leading the origination efforts in the clean tech field.
·  Actively contributing to the execution of project finance mandates.
·  Taking on and handling projects autonomously: debt structures, project due diligence, financial documentation and supervisory of/ leading modelling supervisory and credit process.
·  Coordination with external parties, e.g. auditors, legal and tax advisors.
·  Negotiation with tender authorities, international clients and financing institutions.
·  Structuring advice for private-to-private transactions to optimise financing structures for clients while maintaining bankability and acceptable credit risk for the bank.
·  Assisting clients in negotiations with potential debt and equity providers.
