Job description

EastEnders is the multi award winning Continuing Drama broadcast four times a week on BBC ONE. It currently ranks as one of the most watched TV dramas in the UK tackling many controversial and taboo issues previously unseen on television in the UK. Through great writing and attention to detail the show manages to successfully balance gritty realism with high drama and entertainment to keep its millions of dedicated viewers coming back for more, on-screen and on-line, every week.

This role will support the Series Producer, Company Manager, and Line Producer; all key roles within the Management Team of EastEnders. The Series Producer works closely with the Executive Producer and the creative team to develop, communicate and implement the creative vision for the show, whilst overseeing production and delivery to BBC ONE in the region of 212 x 30’ episodes of EastEnders a year – on time, on budget and to the highest possible creative standard.

Role Responsibility

As the team assistant you will maintain and develop as appropriate efficient office and administration systems and ensure the smooth running of the office at all times. It will be your responsibility to organise and co-ordinate the Series Producer’s complex diary and Line Producer’s diary where possible managing contacts and queries without reference to the Series Producer and Line Producer. When required you will monitor whereabouts of EastEnders episodes at various stages of production and post production for the Series Producer. This requires detailed and regular consultation with the Post Production Team.

You’ll monitor incoming scripts at various stages pre-production for the Series Producer and you will be responsible for updating the Cast List that is held on the shared drive. As part of your role you will have to receive visitors and organise hospitality arrangements when required in conjunction with the EastEnders Office Runner and escort visitors round the Lot and Studios, using acquired knowledge of the programme’s history and locations to make the tours as informative and enjoyable as possible. A key part to this role will be to provide support as necessary to other members of the Production, reporting conflicting priorities to the Company Manager when necessary.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in demanding secretarial and administrative roles - particularly providing comprehensive secretarial support with office and information technology.

You will have experience taking minutes at lengthy meetings and fast, accurate transcription demonstrating your ability to work with and handle confidential and commercially sensitive information with tact, discretion and sensitivity.

An ability to interpret production recording schedules and call sheets would be an advantage. Experience of establishing and maintaining administration systems and the ability to communicate information effectively to a wide range of production and non production personnel, internal and external to the BBC would be desirable.
