Job description

The BBC is currently recruiting for a Strategy Analyst to join our Policy & Strategy team based in London.  This is a twelve month contract/attachment opportunity.

The BBC is the largest broadcasting corporation in the world. Its mission is to enrich people's lives with programmes that inform, educate and entertain. It is a public service broadcaster, established by a Royal Charter and funded by the licence fee that is paid by UK households. The BBC uses the income from the licence fee to provide services including 8 national TV channels plus regional programming, 10 national radio stations, 40 local radio stations and an extensive website, www.bbc.co.uk .

The Policy & Strategy team is the guardian of the BBC’s understanding of its external environment, particularly competitor activity and industry developments.  It is a key source of blue sky ideas for improving the BBC’s ability to succeed, working as a broker of cross-BBC solutions and co-ordinator of the BBC’s partnership activities.

Role Responsibility

Analysing key markets, competitor developments, technological change and audience trends, you’ll play a crucial part in supporting the development of the BBC’s long-term strategy.

Working with project teams and managers across the BBC, you’ll influence strategic and policy decision-making, contribute to business planning and translate plans into detailed initiatives.

Using appropriate business and modelling tools, you’ll provide high quality research and present well thought-out recommendations to individuals and teams at all levels.

The Ideal Candidate

With a strong background in business strategy, you’ll have significant experience of qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques and will be able to present complex data in a way that is accessible to everyone.  In addition you'll need substantial analytical skills with demonstrable project management and strong organisational & planning skills.

A good understanding of the broadcasting sector and media developments would be advantageous and a strong academic record is highly desirable.
