Job description

Audiences are at heart of everything we do at the BBC and ensuring that this remains so is the role of our Marketing and Audiences (M&A) team. The M&A team bring the outside in via research and insight and take the inside out via brand strategies, campaigns and audience engagement. Those working in Audience Research use quantitative and qualitative research to inform editorial and strategic decisions across the BBC.

The Research Assistant role is an entry-level position in the Audiences team, part of the Marketing and Audiences division of the BBC. The role offers an exciting opportunity to understand audience data and behaviours and impact on strategic and editorial decisions.

We are recruiting for several Research Assistants across a range of BBC Audiences teams including roles in Television, Radio/music, News, Digital, Strategy, Central Audiences and World Service.

Role Responsibility

This position will require you to support the audiences departments day-to-day operations, including supporting on regular reporting of key audience data and ad hoc analysis. You will assist in the smooth running and development of longer-term projects, including administrative duties. This role will need you to research and keep abreast of new developments in the field of audience/market research, coupled with working with internal and external colleagues, stakeholders and partners to ensure that audience insight is shared with in the wider Audiences department as appropriate.

The Ideal Candidate

This role will expect you to have an interest in developing a career in audience/market research or similar, with proven interest or experience in this area. You will also ideally have an understanding of how quantitative and qualitative research can be used to improve an organisations understanding of its audience. You’ll also have strong administrative experience and IT skills (excel, powerpoint), along with working in a project team. This position will need you to have good interpersonal and communication skills.
