Radio Rigger Driver Supervisor, Radio & Music Operations

Job description

Radio & Music Operations provides experienced and talented staff, together with an extensive range of specialist studios, outside broadcast vehicles and broadcasting equipment for BBC Radio, TV and external clients

We are looking for a Class 1 HGV or C+E LGV Rigger Driver with an up to date driver CPC, with experience of driving technical vehicles, support vehicles and rigging of OBs at various locations nationwide.

Role Responsibility

Rigger Drivers are required to drive Radio Outside Broadcast and other vehicles to and from the site of an outside broadcast and other locations as necessary.

On-site they are required to rig and de-rig technical equipment, lay cables, erect scaffolding and assist the operational crew during all phases of the outside broadcast.

They may be required to assist the Stores operation in base.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential :   To be considered for this role, you must already have a Class 1, HGV or C+E LGV   Licence, with substantial driving experience and a thorough working knowledge of all relevant transport legislation.  

You will need to be an enthusiastic, self-motivated rigger driver and you will have good knowledge and experience of the various vehicle types and their permissible loads used in an OB Operation. You will be up to date with you driver CPC’s. You will have had experience of working on a range of Radio Outside Broadcasts and will be passionate about Radio output.

As a supervisor, you'll have proven leadership and team working skills, with the ability to work well within small ad hoc teams. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skill are essential, as well as the ability to organise and prioritise your workload under pressure.  In addition to these, you will have  excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
