Job description
BBC Breakfast is looking for an experienced Production Coordinator to join the team for a 6 month contract or attachment. BBC Breakfast is the most watched morning TV programme in Britain with an audience reach of around 6 million viewers a day. This role requires someone who enjoys working in a fast paced environment and preferably has an interest in News and Current Affairs. Standard working hours are 10am-6pm Mon to Fri.
Role Responsibility
As Production Coordinator you will work in partnership with editorial colleagues to deliver outstanding, distinctive TV by providing the ways to realise editorial ambitions within operational and financial constraints. You will co-ordinate production activities to meet daily deadlines whilst working within the constraints of the budget.
As the day to day focal point for the production team, you will be responsible for managing the arrangements for all the resources needed for the production and ensuring they are sourced and contracted within BBC guidelines.
You will be responsible for the deployment of crews and co-ordination of all technical and operational logistics for live and pre-recorded elements both domestic and foreign where necessary.
You will assist the Production Management team scheduling staffing in accordance with programme requirements as and when required.
You need to be able to work to tight deadlines and cope well under pressure while producing work to a high standard.
The Ideal Candidate
You will already have experience of working as a Production Coordinator across a variety of output whilst also demonstrating an interest in News & Current Affairs output. You will be an adaptable individual who is highly organised and who will enjoy the challenge of working to the tight deadlines imposed by a daily live news programme.
You will be resilient, have excellent problem solving skills, be a good communicator, have experience of working with budgets, hold good attention to detail and have a real can do attitude.
Experience of scheduling staff, managing leave (annual, sick, domestic etc) and contracting freelancers and casuals is desirable.
Experience of coordinating foreign and domestic shoots, creating workflows and adapting to new technology is desirable.
