The BBC Academy is the BBC’s centre for training, skills, apprenticeships and outreach, covering all divisions and content areas. As well as training our own staff, and running schemes to develop new talent, we also have a remit under the terms of the BBC's Charter Agreement to train the wider industry. We aim to share as much of our training as possible with the wider UK broadcasting industry for free.
We are now looking for a Payments Co-ordinator to join our Academy Operations Team to provide support for staff and freelancers across the Academy. The role is based in The Mailbox, Birmingham.

Role Responsibility
Key responsibilities include:
·Ensure the accurate and timely completion of all Academy payments including the raising of purchase orders, processing SmartBook freelance payments and the payment of artists via ACON
·Validate requests for freelance contracts and process these in accordance with HMRC regulations and BBC policy
·Deal with and resolve queries from internal and external partners including internal Academy training delivery teams, freelances and suppliers
·Support the Payments Manager in the accurate transacting of all payments business and deliver additional tasks as directed
·Support ad hoc projects within the Academy
·Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act
·Support the Payments Manager in compliance with the Freedom of Information Act, responding to data requests within the statutory timeframe and liaising with other interested parties when required
·Ensure the accurate and timely processing of freelance expenses in accordance with the BBC Expenses policy
·Set up freelancers with Access Bookings enabling freelancers to book hotels independently
·Carry out Eligibility to Work (ETW) checks when required and occasionally HMRC Employment Status Indicator (ESI) checks for freelancers
The Ideal Candidate
·Excellent attention to detail and the ability to analyse complex contracts and analyse and input large volumes of data accurately and in a timely manner
·Good knowledge of SAP Finance and / or ability to learn new computer systems quickly, including the BBC Smartbook system
·Good MS Excel skills
·Ability to “self-manage”, taking responsibility for delivery and finding a solution in the face of obstacles, but able to escalate up when appropriate
·Effective planning and organisation skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
·Motivated, flexible and willing to support the wider Operations Team
·Ability to work to deadlines and cope with periodic increases in workload
·Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team and build effective working relationships with internal and external partners
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills
