Graphic Designer (Broadcast)

Job description

The Graphic Designer creates graphic content for a variety of media platforms including TV, online and print.  Collaborating closely with TV Production, they are responsible for producing original and innovative TV graphic content within the allocated budget, scheduling the work and delivering on time to a broadcast standard.  When commissioned, they also produce a wide range of print graphics to promote and brand BBC events.

While the role will be predominately working across News, Politics and Sport output, the successful candidate would be expected to work across a wide range of Studio, Outside Broadcast and Post Production graphics as required.

We are seeking to appoint a Graphic Designer into the Post Production team in Pacific Quay on a continuing contract.

Role Responsibility

The Graphic Designer will create innovative, effective and high quality graphics and effectively manage budgets.  You will ensure timely and efficient delivery of projects, communicating with editorial colleagues throughout.  Maintaining the Viz database and Graphic dropzone are key elements of this role.  You will operate Viz graphics system during live transmissions including working to a pre-determined running order and also providing ad hoc, last minute graphics as required.  You will undertake relevant research for programme content material and ensure editorial, grammatical and spelling accuracy at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have demonstrable knowledge of all relevant graphics software including Viz Artist, Adobe Creative Suite software, Curious Maps, on both Mac and PC systems.  You will have experience of designing animated sequences and knowledge of working in a live transmission area.  Broadcasting and/or journalistic experience would be a distinct advantage and sports knowledge would be desirable.
