Job description

This exciting Finance Business Analyst (FBA) role sits within the small, dedicated, Radio Finance Team. The team provides finance support and insightful analysis and advice to the leadership teams of the BBC's national radio stations, including Radios 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 6 Music and the Asian Network, alongside orchestras and the BBC Proms.

Finance Business Analysts support the BBC in driving best value from the licence fee within each business area. The FBA will focus on forward-looking, large-scale and high-impact change projects and investment decisions, helping to support effective financial planning within their area. Working closely with Finance Business Partners and the Finance Director, the FBA delivers financial and business analysis to help solve business problems, progress and track change initiatives, and influence business decisions.

Role Responsibility

The successful candidate will help to resolve key business issues and problems, working with the Finance Business Partner and/or relevant operational stakeholder to deliver solutions and recommendations, based on sound analysis – sharing external and BBC wide knowledge and good practice.

You will maintain up to date knowledge and understanding of the divisional business - building and developing effective relationships with key business contacts and owning the resolution of specific and on-going financial and business issues to ensure they are resolved in a timely manner.

You will deliver high quality supporting papers, reports and briefing notes across all a variety of areas, for sharing and discussion with the Finance Business Partner / Finance Director / Senior Management or Divisional and Departmental Boards.

You will be required to build and develop strong relationships with key business and finance stakeholders, ensuring the relevant local and Finance Centre of Excellence teams are informed of issues, analysis and decisions that impact on them or require their support and input.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be able to provide financial support and analysis to identify and resolve business problems.  You will be a qualified accountant (or if not an accountant, then qualified by substantial experience in an analyst role) and have the ability to analyse complex data and communicate financial information in a simple manner to a wide range of stakeholders.
