Job description
The BBC's Features and Daytime genre is responsible for output including flagship series such as Antiques Roadshow, Countryfile and DIY SOS. The development teams have recently generated the new titles: A Chef Abroad, Wanted in Paradise, James Martin Home Comforts and Designs on Chelsea.
Role Responsibility
You will work closely with the Development Producers and Heads of Development, generating ideas across BBC channels and for BBC Worldwide. You will be expected to develop new series and formats ideas, participate in brainstorms, to research content and find new on screen talent, to write treatments and make tasters and casting tapes. Maintaining and nurturing strong commissioner relationships and selling ideas in pitch meetings is a key element of the role.
The Ideal Candidate
The succesful candidate will have a track record of delivering original journalism and excellent writing and research skills. You will have the ability to tease out a format or a series proposition from a mass of information and proven ability in understanding complex information and translating that into compelling television. You will be skilled at getting contributors on board and be familiar with research techniques and sources for the verification of the accuracy of material.
Ideally, you will be a self-shooter and feel confident to go off and make taster tapes.
