BBC Wiltshire broadcasts across the county from our headquarters in Swindon, only an hour from London & Bristol. We pride ourselves in our passion for Wiltshire and engagement with the urban & rural communities in our patch. It includes ancient landscapes & monuments such as Stonehenge & Avebury, major employers like Dyson, Honda, BMW & Nationwide and around a quarter of the British Army.

Role Responsibility

You will be part of our busy news team, contributing new ideas and delivering content on air and online. The job covers a range of roles including producing, reporting & bulletin reading as well as producing social media output. You will work within a team on a shift system and be expected to make confident editorial decisions on breaking stories.  You will be generating your own original stories. You will work closely with all colleagues in the West so that stories are delivered with maximum impact across all broadcast & digital platforms.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be an experienced Broadcast Journalist, skilled in radio production techniques and able to demonstrate your aptitude for using social media to tell stories and as a newsgathering tool. You will have a track record in original journalism, have first class writing skills and a great voice for radio.  You will need to be an ambitious and dynamic individual; a self-starter with plenty of initiative; a great team player who recognises and harnesses the skills and talents of others to deliver the best possible output. You will have sound editorial judgement and thorough knowledge of broadcast law.  You will be required to operate broadcast equipment including Radioman, the Verv, portable transmitting and recording devices.
