Job description
BBC Tees is the Radio Academy Station of the Year (under 1 million) 2014, with a strong track record of creative and original journalism.
We cover the socially diverse areas of Teesside, County Durham and North Yorkshire. It’s a fascinating and busy news patch, in a region with pride, history and potential.
Role Responsibility
As Broadcast Journalist you'll be part of our busy news team, contributing new ideas for delivering content. You will be expected to be proficient and experienced in a variety of roles, such as preparing and presenting news bulletins, producing live news programmes, and reporting. You will work at the weekend and be confident in making editorial decisions on breaking stories as well as having the ability to generate your own original stories. An excellent broadcast voice is essential.
It will also be your responsibility to ensure our stories reach a wider audience through social media.
The Ideal Candidate
As an experienced radio journalist, you'll have a track record of generating original stories; bags of ideas; creative treatments, first class writing skills, an excellent radio voice and ability to work in a multi-platform environment. You'll need strong editorial judgement, news awareness, and experience of bulletin reading and reporting. Ideally you'll know the area but having a good grasp of the region's news and sport agenda is a must.
