BBC Radio Solent is the South's original local radio station; on air for over forty years and serving an audience passionate about local issues and where they live. We’re responsible for producing one of BBC Local Radio’s biggest late night shows, The Paul Miller Late Show.
Role Responsibility
BBC Radio Solent is looking for an enthusiastic and creative radio producer to take over the production of the popular Paul Miller late show. The show is broadcast Monday to Friday across six BBC local radio stations from 10pm to 1am and has a large loyal audience. As part-time worker you’ll start work at 8pm. You’ll come up with the main talking topics of the night and keep the busy social media side of the show up to date. During the show you studio produce and ensure the golden callers are put through to speak to Paul. You’ll also have an awareness of what’s happening around the South to ensure any breaking news features in the show, and the appropriate breakfast programme is sent details.
The Ideal Candidate
This role would be ideal for an experienced Broadcast Assistant looking to make the move up to a Broadcast Journalist. You'll have a minimum of one year’s experience in the production of speech based radio programmes, and have a passion for interactive late night conversation. You’ll be at home speaking to listeners and adept at spotting stories that’ll get the South talking. You’ll be buzzing with ideas and treatments, but also skilled at keeping social media and the BBC iPlayer pages up to date with galleries and clips from the show.
You’ll also have an interest in local news, and be able to spot breaking news that could feature on one of the stations the following morning.
