Job description
BBC Radio Nottingham is looking for a strong all-rounder to join our vibrant news team. We’ve just won Gold for ‘Best Breakfast
Programme’ at this year’s Gillard awards. Our success is based on telling stories in creative and thought-provoking ways, alongside a daily mix of news, information and discussion for the one million people who live in beautiful Robin Hood county.
Role Responsibility
You will be required to carry out research to a broad brief, with minimal supervision, write for programme scripts and bulletins. You should have sound editorial judgment and a creative approach, and use your initiative to deliver the stories relevant to BBC Radio Nottingham’s audience. You’ll be required to plan & produce content, report in both recorded and live situations, as well as prepare radio packages.
The Ideal Candidate
You’ll be an experienced broadcast journalist with the determination to make your mark in a busy newsroom. You will be able to demonstrate success in generating original stories and delivering them in creative and entertaining ways. You’ll have a great voice, plenty of initiative and be a great team player. Sound editorial judgment and an understanding of our target audience are also essential. You’ll have an interest in, and knowledge of, digital first and social media strategies. Knowledge and understanding of Nottinghamshire is desirable, but not essential.
