Job description
Nominated for Gillard Station of the Year 2014, BBC Radio Gloucestershire is one of the most successful in local radio. We’re looking for a new broadcast assistant to join our team.
Role Responsibility
This is a varied role but working primarily to breakfast.
·Presenting the travel news throughout the breakfast programme
·Assisting in a live studio environment
·Working on outside broadcasts
·Updating social media
·Answering the telephones and setting up guests.
·Developing editorial ideas for output
The Ideal Candidate
You’ll be good at working in a small team – you will need the ability to work calmly under intense pressure. You’ll be technically confident with a range of studio equipment and required to handle several equally important tasks at one time. You’ll have a positive attitude and come up with ideas and creative treatments for stories.
You’ll comfortable using audio editing software, ideally Adobe Audition and Radioman. You’ll have already broadcast live and won’t be phased by live radio.
You should have a broad interest in news, TV and popular culture. A good working knowledge of Gloucestershire would be a distinct advantage. You must have strong organisational, communication, influencing and persuading skills and an understanding of our local radio audience. It’s essential that you can work within a team as well as under your own initiative
