Ambitious output makes BBC Radio Oxford one of the most exciting places to work in BBC Local Radio.  We are looking for a highly creative Broadcast Assistant to support our weekday mid-morning show.

Role Responsibility

We’re looking for a Broadcast Assistant who is capable of working within a small but dedicated team delivering engaging, topical and interactive radio on a daily basis. The role will include programme set-up, assisting in a live studio environment and working on outside broadcasts.

We’re also keen to hear from people who can demonstrate various other Broadcast Assistant tasks, including presenting live travel bulletins and technical operation of a live broadcast studio, and who are keen to fully engage in the radio station’s PR activities.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll be an experienced Broadcast Assistant with a passion for personality radio.

You will have a great nose for a story, a genuine interest in people and a track record of getting hard to deliver guests to air. You will have a broad interest in news, TV and popular culture. A good working knowledge of Oxfordshire would be a distinct advantage. You must have strong organisational, communication, influencing and persuading skills as well as bags of ideas and creative treatments. In addition, you’ll need an understanding of our local radio audience. It’s essential that you can work within a team as well as under your own initiative.

A good working knowledge of a radio studio, to include experience of technical operation of programming would be useful.  Edit skills to a high level and at speed are required.
