BBC Radio Manchester is looking for brilliant, ambitious, and motivated person to join us for a 6 month contract/attachment as a Broadcast Assistant working on our breakfast and mid-morning shows. Both programmes have bags of personality, warmth and fun as well as great journalism, and we’re on the up! Our audience is increasing year on year and you could play a part in continuing that growth….Role ResponsibilityYou’ll work as part of the weekday Breakfast and mid-morning teams. You’ll be full of ideas and proactive with offering creative treatments. You’ll offer ideas, answer and produce calls, you’ll take clips and turn things round. You’ll be fully across social media and able to react to breaking news, writing simple cues, researching and supporting the producer and presenters. You will also be able to drive the desk, edit and generally be technically very capable.The Ideal CandidateYou will have worked on news based and fast paced programmes and you’ll have a great understanding of how audiences interact through social media. You’ll be creative and have a “radio brain.” You’ll also be a great team player and work well with producers and presenters and be able to be calm and confident under pressure. You’ll have an understanding of the output of the whole radio station and our digital offering, and be prepared to generate ideas across all programmes. You will need to be flexible and happy to react to changing demands throughout the day. In addition, you’ll have a good working knowledge of Greater Manchester our target audience and aims and values as a station. You’ll have a good working knowledge of the different communities who live here.
