BBC Radio Nottingham broadcasts to around 200,000 listeners a week from the heart of the vibrant city of Nottingham. It shares purpose-built premises with regional television and BBC News Online. It's a lively and exciting patch with plenty of stories waiting to be told.

Role Responsibility

A Broadcast Assistant is a key role, supporting the breakfast and mid-morning shows mid-week and at the weekend. You might work on other areas of the output too. You’ll assist with all aspects of on air programme production; assessing calls from listeners whose contributions are a key part of the show, being the point of contact with the public for programme enquiries. You will undertake programme administration and meet and greet guests for programmes.

 

The Ideal Candidate

You will need be great on the phone, calm under pressure and have experience of dealing with the public. You’ll be a strong communicator with an ability to persuade contributors to go on air and have excellent IT, technical and organisational experience.

You’ll need lots of ideas, boundless enthusiasm, experience of coming up with creative radio treatments, know how to write engaging cues, knowledge of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and know what makes the BBC Radio Nottingham audience tick. You’ll also need experience of live reporting, great technical skills including studio desk driving, audio editing and know how to engage through social media.

You’ll be an experienced Broadcast Assistant with a well-developed knowledge and passion for news, current affairs.

Package Description

Grade:                  3/4 HD

Duration:             12 month attachment/fixed term contracts

Contracts:           2 x Broadcast Assistant positions as follows:

1: PART TIME     10 hours (Saturday & Sunday) 0700-1200

2: FULL TIME     35 hours (Monday – Friday) 0700-1500
