These are fantastic roles for new apprentice Production Management Assistants to work for either the CBeebies or CBBC Development teams for BBC Children’s.  

These entry-level apprenticeships at BBC North are opportunities for those who live in the Greater Manchester area and have left formal education and not gained anything higher than A Levels or equivalent qualifications. It is a great route of entry into the BBC.

The Production Management Assistants in CBeebies and CBBC Development provide administrative support to the Development teams, and to CBeebies Radio . You will also provide cover for the Personal Assistants and gain experience in diary management. Duties will include helping to manage and monitor production budgets, ensuring that all post production paperwork is complete and supporting the production management team by working in studio and location.

CBeebies is dedicated to delighting and surprising its young audience and it remains the UK's most watched and most loved channel for the under-sixes. Almost half of the target audience tune in every week (parents and carers with children aged 0-3 and four- to six-year-olds with 51% saying they love the channel. Our reach is over two times that of our nearest competitor. The CBeebies website is also hugely popular with our young audience and their parents and helps extend the ‘learning through play’ philosophy. Last year it averaged over 470k unique users per week.

Our most popular shows include In the Night Garden, Gigglebiz , Octonauts , Swashbuckle and Topsy and Tim . Some of our new shows include Spot Bots and Footy Pups together with new episodes of the popular series Something Special and Teletubbies.

CBBC is the most-loved and most-watched channel of children in its target age group. A quarter of children (6-12) tune into the CBBC channel each week, with around 1m unique users visiting the website.  CBBC aims to encourage children to find out more about existing interests and inspire them to develop new ones; helps them understand the world around them and provides an entertaining watch when they just want to relax.

Our most popular shows include The Dumping Ground , Hank Zipzer, The Next Step, and My Life and the long-running Blue Peter and Newsround , as well as new shows such as The Dengineers and new episodes of the popular series Dangermouse .

Role Responsibility

The Production Management Assistants in CBeebies Development / Radio and CBBC Development provides administrative support to the Development and Radio teams. You will also provide cover for the Personal Assistants and gain experience in diary management.

The Ideal Candidate

What are the entry requirements?

· Anyone who is 18 years old or over is eligible to take up this position when it starts.
· You must live within the Greater Manchester area.
· Anyone with - or without - GCSEs or A levels is eligible to apply. In fact you may not even have a GCSE qualification in English and Maths (A-C) but you’ll need to be able to work at this level.
· You are not eligible to apply if you already received or are currently working towards a Level 4 equivalent qualification or higher level qualification (i.e. Level 4 apprenticeship, degree or foundation degree) and above.
· You must have the right to work in the UK. We will not accept applications from you if you require a work permit.

Please ensure that you read the attached documents

You'll need to demonstrate effective administration skills, have a strong eye for detail with good organisational and planning skills. You will need to be aware of BBC Children’s content across television, radio and online. You should be able to use systems and adopt new technologies and be confident with figures as required. Also important are effective written and verbal communication skills, and a commitment to gaining an apprenticeship qualification in Business Administration through attending college when required and completing related work.

You will be based at our new location at Salford Quays. When you've completed your apprenticeship, you'll not only have had valuable work experience to help you get started in your career, but you'll also have a chance to apply for a permanent position at the BBC.
