Financial Crime Compliance:
Financial Crime undertakes the lead role in assessing and understanding the implications of new and emerging legal/regulatory requirements relating to Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption (ABC), Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Financing, and Sanctions. Together, the team has responsibility for positioning Barclays to effectively mitigate the financial crime risks across Barclays businesses in the Americas, in satisfaction of legal and regulatory requirements, the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, and Barclays Policies, Standards and Values. Overall purpose of role:
o The role holder will support oversight of the ABC control framework in the Americas through the collection, analysis, tracking, and escalation of relevant information.
o The role holder will support the consistent application of ABC standards across all businesses in the Americas and assist in providing advisory services and ABC support to business and functional constituents.
Key Accountabilities and Skills required:
Key specific accountabilities.
• Control oversight and reporting, including preparing and analyzing management information that provides a timely overview of ABC risk and controls; maintaining tracking mechanisms and documentation relating to ABC reviews and activities; ensuring deliverables are on track; assisting with the coordination, execution and review of Risk Assessments, audits and testing activities; and escalating issues.
• Policy and strategy, including assisting with the performance of ABC reviews and provision of advice to business/functional constituents on matters escalated in the Americas relating to expenditure, third parties, employment/work opportunities, and strategic transactions; and supporting the development of processes and procedures.
• Control implementation, including assisting with monitoring activities; assisting with the coordination of ABC training and communication initiatives; supporting ABC and larger Financial Crime program management projects; and supporting AML and Sanctions colleagues, as needed, in implementing a robust Financial Crime framework.
Stakeholder management and leadership.
• The role holder will interact with constituents of varying levels within the Corporate and Investment Bank business and infrastructure teams, such as Sourcing, Human Resources, Core Compliance and Product Compliance.
• This requires strong communication and relationship management skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Decision making and problem solving.
• The role holder will be required to analyze individual items and larger data sets to identify issues, trends and emerging risks.
• The role requires the ability to form risk-based conclusions across different disciplines, such as Sourcing, Human Resources and Citizenship, based on the role holder's effective collection and analysis of information and identification of ABC and related issues.
• The role holder will be expected to identify opportunities for process enhancement.
Risk and Control: All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.
Your Skills and Qualifications will include
Basic Qualifications
o Four-year college degree
o 3+ years experience in a financial services firm (or another highly regulated, complex, multi-national corporation) or regulatory environment
o 3+ year working in a Financial Crime, other Compliance, or regulatory experience
Preferred Qualifications
o Law degree
o Strong attention to detail
o Highly analytic
o Strong written and verbal communication skills
o Ability to identify issues and recognize risk and incorporate them into plan
o Highly organized and structured
o Proven track record of exceeding goals and evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, a high level of business acumen, sound judgment and integrity
o Project management experience
o Strong team work skills, including coordination in working across a wide range of stakeholders within and beyond the function and in different geographic locations
o Ability and willingness to establish and develop relationships across teams
o Flexibility and adaptability
