About Treasury Operations
Treasury Operations delivers three essential Tier 1 Services to the organization, through a direct and indirect business support model. The primary functions of this group are to provide Funding and Cash Management, Intraday Liquidity Management, Analytics and Reporting.
These functions play a critical role in helping the bank manage its funding and liquidity needs supporting key business stakeholders and providing quantitative and qualitative analysis and reporting. The department has a number of key strategic objectives to drive the function forward and improve our capability including increasing the focus on pro-active value-added services, funding and liquidity processes, and driving the strategic investment agenda to ensure we build a first-class operating platform to support our future needs.
About Treasury Operations Funding
The Treasury Operations Funding Team is an integral part of Treasury Operations and responsible for managing the cash and liquidity across the firm. The team is primarily responsible for the management, monitoring and oversight of cash movements and balances on the firm's cash accounts.
Overall purpose of role
Providing Treasury and business units with projected funding requirements and minimize residual end of day balances through active monitoring and execution.
Key Accountabilities
· Provide funding projections and actual funding requirements to trading desks, resulting in the most efficient use on Firm cash balances (i.e. invest long positions and cover short positions).
· Cash consolidation and mobilisation across the network of cash and securities linked cash accounts within tight deadlines.
· Funding analysis and investigation - causes of opening balances / costs.
· Partner with related Operations areas to implement best practises across Operations, avoiding repetition of errors, and driving down cost accordingly.
· Support business lines by providing data to identify funding drivers and projection swings
· Build and maintain strong working relationships with related Front Office, Finance, IT and Operations areas
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
The role is wide reaching. The candidate will be dealing with a number of business functions in the front office as well as a number of Operations and IT teams. Externally there will be interaction with our agent bank network. This will require good interpersonal skills including teamwork, partnership and communication at different levels.
Decision-making and Problem Solving
The role is process driven, but due to the high profile and intense nature of the role, there are many variables in the end to end flow which as an example could involve making a decision on moving cash based on information from an agent bank or settlements team which could ensure an account balance is flat reducing the cost impact.
Decisions need to make quickly under pressure and escalation needs to be timely at all times whilst following the firm's policies.
