About Core Banking eBOX/BRAINS

We provide a Core Banking function based in Poole which provides end to end application development and support to operations in a number of African Countries

Overall purpose of role

• The Role holder will have influence within the software delivery lifecycle by contributing to the component based Functional and Non Functional System Integration Testing, of application development by the eBOX/BRAINS Team for our customers in RBB Africa.

• The position will be as part of a team working closely with other IT development functions utilising the specialised tools to fully test and document results

Key Accountabilities

• Work with development team to create test plans for application enhancements and fixes, developing the test specifications based on the design documents provided and under minimum supervision carry out these tests to ensure that systems meets those design specifications.

• Perform all functional and technical test execution activities within budget and schedule constraints that are set within the project deliverables.

• Produce test results containing information at the application and system level and upload these to Quality Centre, documenting defects a tracking to closure that includes delivery of a test closure report.

• Document knowledge on best practices on using specific test tools or while working on specific technologies

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

• Assist the Test Lead/Test Manager in managing day-to-day testing activities, such as test monitoring and status reporting at the end of the testing day.

• Produce constant communication and follow-ups with various stake holders to track deliverable during test planning and execution phases where applicable.

• Participate in project meetings to provide feedback and statistics of the project in relation to the test quality.

Decision-making and Problem Solving

• Identify complex issues in design specifications and product documentation, presenting these back to the recipient for action.

• Mitigate risks to the Business through precise execution of test scripts

Risk and Control Objective

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

Person Specification

• Must have a subset of the following skills

• Proven experience of application testing at a component (or similar) level.

• Clear and concise written and verbal communication.

• Well organised and focused, with a diplomatic interaction style.

• Methodical with acute attention to detail.

• A team player, but with the acumen and confidence in their ability to work unsupervised in a constantly changing environment with multiple complex systems.

• Proven record of execution to time and quality within challenging targets.

Advantageous

• Experience with SQL, UNIX, JAVA.

• Domain background of Banking /BFSI industry.

• Experience with tools and Utilities such as Quality Centre and QTP.

• Knowledge of international payment systems e.g. SWIFT.
